Principal’s Report
Week 10 has arrived and what an action-packed term of learning it has been. Over the term, I have been in and out of every classroom and observed students engaged in their learning, supporting others and persisting with challenging tasks. A number of visitors to the school have also commented on excellent student behaviour and level of student engagement in every classroom. The teachers and students should be very proud of what they have achieved together this term.
The major areas of focus for this term have included:
- Developing positive relationships between students, teachers and parents
- Training and implementation of the Reading Improvement Strategy
- Beginning to implement the Diocesan Phonics and Spelling Approach across the whole school
- Providing sporting opportunities
- Developing students ICT capabilities
- Implementation of the whole school Zones of Regulation Program to assist students with recognising their emotions and providing strategies to get back into the ‘green zone’
- Exploring the Lenten message and Easter story of Jesus
- Application submission to Capital Grants for library and toilet block upgrade
- Supporting Anti-Bullying strategies through participation in National Day of Action against bullying
- Fundraising for Year 6 Canberra Trip
- And much much more!
Our core business is continuing to ensure every student experiences success and they come to know Jesus.

Students all wrote Lenten promises and we have them on display in the church.
I hope everyone has a restful and safe easter break.

Prep/1 News
Term 1 has almost come to an end and what a term it has been. Students have filled the class persistence jar and have voted on a movie and popcorn afternoon. This reward will take place this week, so congratulations Prep/1! Assessment is now complete, with every student doing an incredible job persisting on all tasks. Thank you to parents who brought in an item that represents their family. Students did a great job sharing their item with their peers. As we have moved into the last week of school, Prep/1 students are working hard on a performance for their upcoming Easter liturgy. We encourage all parents to attend the liturgy at 9:00am on Thursday morning, straight after assembly. In keeping with the spirit of Easter, students are learning about the Easter story and participating in relevant craft activities. Thank you all for a wonderful first term and I look forward to seeing all your smiling faces next term.
Happy Easter!

Prep/1 Teacher

Year 2/3 News
Welcome to the final Year 2 and 3 news for Term One, it only seems like a couple of weeks ago that our Room 2 kids walked through the door for the first time. We have learned and developed together over this time with ‘Respect’ and ‘Teamwork’ being our cornerstones. With this foundation we have been able to support and guide each other through both tricky and awesome times. Our focus over the last few weeks has been assessment, with this experience our students will be able to move forward with greater confidence for the future. I hope you all have an amazing holiday break and all students come back recharged and eager to continue the outstanding first term that we all experienced.

Year 3/4 News
This past fortnight year 3-4 have been extremely busy finishing up assessment! The students had their last swimming lesson in week 9, filled up their persistence pebble jar and have participated in a netball lesson with Vicki Wilson. Some more highlights include; finishing our persuasive speeches, starting cross country training and learning lots of new choreography! It has been an exciting end to the term, we are looking forward to the holidays and starting brand new units! Happy Easter Everybody!

What an action packed fortnight – persuasive speeches, safe package creations, Vicki Wilson Netball, Cross Country Training and Swimming Lessons.
Year 5/6 News
This week has been a busy, busy week for 5/6! Firstly, we completed our water troughs which were designed to offer an irrigation system to crops as well as a water station for cattle. On top of this, we had Vicky Wilson, a top netballer, in our school teaching us tactics for playing netball. This week, we had our car wash fundraiser. What a success! Over three hundred dollars was raised, and Cunnamulla is now full of sparkling clean cars. Because this car wash was such a success, we are hoping to run another next term; keep an eye out for more details.

Minister For Agriculture and Water Resources Visit
Last Friday, Hon David Littleproud visited Cunnamulla to announce a substantial investment into tourism projects for Cunnamulla. Four of our leaders, headed down to the tourist information centre to meet Mr Littleproud and view future plans for the community.
Year 4-6 Music
Grade 4 students have earned the ability to take their instruments home and were photographed last week. As a key focus from the Instrumental Music Curriculum students earn their instruments through learning setup, care and maintenance of these valuable school resources. Learning how to play a musical instrument benefits students with the development of resilience, numeracy, literacy and social skills. Mr Pullen, our new music teacher is looking forward to teaching students and band performances with our year 5 and 6 students this year.
Kind Regards,
David Pullen
